This photograph will be part of a series in which all the main stones will be split or broken into a few pieces, looking like a puzzle. This image was at a private beach where I discovered a variety of stones, most of which were fused into the rock; yet the property over on each side did not feature such geology.

I am sure that enough copy can be created to about the symbolism and meaning of rocks/stones that are broken in two or more pieces.

It is only for illustrative purpose that I show the same photograph in duo-tone and colour. When it comes time to select which version to post, it will be based on the one that enhances the stones beauty more and which one is suitable for the text that accompanies the image.

The area was covered with stones appearing as though one could just pick them up, but if one tried, one realized they were still part of the earths structure, as if someone had careful glued each on into place.

One of these days I am going to figure out the difference between rock and stone and when one should apply the proper word to describe either a stone or a rock.

PS: Personally I favor black & white that has been given another tone, a layer of Pantone warm grey #2 over colour, as black & white can be made more dramatic when compared to colour. On the other hand if the picture has subtle colours like the horse shoe crab, then colour is preferred.
